The patterns of vaccination may vary from a veterinarian to another. Our veterinarian we recommends the following pattern:
- At 6 weeks: against parvovirus and distemper.
- At 8 weeks: against leptospira, distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, adenovirus, parainfluenza and coronavirus.
- At three months: against leptospira, distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, adenovirus, parainfluenza and coronavirus.
- At 5 Months: anger (in those dogs traveling to other regions or countries).
- At 6 months: against leptospira, distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, adenovirus, parainfluenza and coronavirus.
After revaccinate once a year. In the females rearing is desirable to match the revaccination between 3-6 months preceding the birth of the litter, because it gets greater immunity for the puppies.
The obligation of the vaccine of rabies varies according to the autonomous community (this can inform your veterinarian). In Galicia is not mandatory, but if the dog is going to travel outside the community or to another country, yes it is necessary to be vaccinated.
The control of gastrointestinal parasites in also depend on the breeder and veterinarian. We do the control of gastrointestinal parasites in every 15 days, and provided a few days before vaccinate, when they are puppies, and then every three months throughout the life of the animal. There are certain internal parasites that can be infected men, hence the importance of the controls periodicals.
It must also seek the dog against external parasites (fleas, ticks, mosquitoes) since they can transmit many diseases. In those communities where there were instances of leishmaniasis, we have to protect our mascot compared to the mosquitoes that carry the disease (see INFORMATION - PROTECTION BY COMMUNITIES)
Us, to be in Galicia, protect against fleas and ticks since the beginning of spring until the late autumn. In winter is enough to control that there is no parasitism, because in the times cold is rare.
For Pyrenean Mastiff, because of its large size, we use wormers type "pipettes", since they are easier to implement (there are already on the market pipettes that in addition to against fleas and ticks, also protect against mosquitoes). For the Jack Russell Terrier employ spray.
