Do you really need the punishment to train a dog?
The handlers traditional until today continue to use the punishment as a tool to train a dog.Tend to use a wide range of actions such as pulling the strap, shouts, shaking, pushing, etc. because they think that is the best way to get the dog listened to.Think that is the only way to get the respect of the dog and achieve the desired behavior.

The definition of the punishment is a action or event unpleasant trainer that accompanies a behavior that makes the dog, and that makes such behavior or decreases in frequency. It decreases the likelihood of behavior that has been corrected (punished) was repeated in the future.

But in truth is necessary? Do We need a punishment to ensure that our dog will listen to us and do what we ask?

Today a wide range of trainers defies this old idea and reject it. That "the letter with blood enters" no longer applies or our children, nor our dogs. In fact we must remember that the dogs as a general rule, like the children want us to be happy with them. They want to do well and pleasing. We are more important to them and the only reason why they do things to way is because they have not yet that is exactly what we want them.
It is true that sometimes the punishment may help to control a behavior, but it really does not teach anything to the dog, it only makes suppress, out of fear, a certain behavior and what is worse, your dog not be willing to learn new things.

 

Who learn better? What a dog that this waiting for the training sessions with anxiety because it's fun please or a dog that knows that as soon as wrong as van to punish?

Karen Pryor teaches in his book another form of education that manages to change undesired behavior without having to punish the dog.

• It is better to work in positive because you do harm to your dog and improvements the relationship with him. It is much more effective and easy and also the learning process is more fun for both.

• The prize has to be sufficiently interesting for your dog. You have to reward with something that your dog really wants, such as food, games, caressing, talk with a pleasant tone of voice. It is important to exchange the different types of awards and end the session provided with the prize more valued by your dog. There are that reward just at the moment that produced the event. If not premias in the very moment your dog did not know why you these rewarding. Associate the prize with the last behavior done, that may be unwanted behavior. The meetings should be short. The dog is more willing to learn and to please. The training becomes faster and more enjoyable. Educate your dog in positive is simple and effective, because what you will see. Begins as soon as possible, your dog will thank you, you will enjoy much more and get better results.
