Dina is sweet and balanced, careful always of not hurting the children. In company of other dogs, her signs of calmness always propitiate the good relations, the game and the easing. In house, guardian preserves the instinct and always she gives the alarm before the strangers' presence.

With this crossing we fulfil a line-breeding on SEYTUM OF TABERNA ZARRA, mother of Son do Ar and mother grandmother of Dina. We wanted with it to reinforce the principal one and Seytum's more important quality: her exceptional instinct for the upbringing.
Seytum is a bitch that has never had problems in the amounts to stay gestante, with easy childbirths and numerous puppies, capable of nursing all of them for the good quality of her milk, extremely careful with her babies. For all that, and provided that character and reproductive capacity are the bases of our upbringing, we have chosen for our kennel a female of this litter: AMANDA OF GASPALLEIRA.

To 25 days counted from the 14th of zeal, we realize an ultrasound scan to confirm the gestation.
We estimate in the vaginal zone a flow of yellow - greenish color that indicates the presence of an infection (it would be normal if it was yellow watery). The above mentioned infection might put in danger the development of the gestation. A treatment is realized by antibiotic 7 days (Clavaseptin 500 mg 2 tablets every 12 hours, veterinary use) and vaginal washes 1-2 times to the day (Lindemil solution 20ml/l of water, human use). Once finished the treatment, we realize another ultrasound scan to verify the condition of the puppies and that there have no been incidents.

Thirteen days before the childbirth, Dina begins to have milk in the breasts, which might mean the risk of a future mastitis. We begin to examine the breasts several times a day, rejecting that exist hard or inflamed and warm zones to the tact.

Three days before the date estimated for the childbirth, we do a X-ray photography to the mother to try to determine the number of puppies. They appreciate 8 puppies.

From the 58th of tasting, we elaborate a TABLE OF CORPORAL TEMPERATURE to try to determine the day of the childbirth. Until the 63rd of gestation one seems to support an oscillation of temperatures throughout the day that moves itself in values of 38,2 º 37,3 º. On the 64th of gestation, the temperature is kept constant between the values of 36,7 º - 37,2 º. On the 65th of gestation it appreciates a sudden raise of 1 º of temperature at 11 a.m., which it indicates that the childbirth is imminent.

To 65 days of gestation, and when already we were starting being afraid of a uterine inertia, we detect the mucous stopper at 11:30 a.m.. At 15:40 there takes place the water break (clear and watery liquid a bit stained with blood). Little later the first contractions appear.
At 18:15 there is born the first puppy (Alfín). The mother takes charge breaking the umbilical cord, cleaning it and reviving it. Later we extract liquids of mouth and nose with help of an infantile cleanser. The following puppies are born at 18:40 (Amanda), 19:20 (Antolín), 22:45 (Alejandro, who remains clogged in the channel of the childbirth, for what it is necessary to stimulate contractions and to realize manual traction), 00:35 (Aurora), 00:50 (Asubío), 2:10 (dead male of 950 gr. of weight), 4:35 (dead female). We believe that the last two puppies were born dead because of the excessive size of the puppy male. We try to revive these two last ones with massage under heat source, extraction of fluids in respiratory tract, application of 2 drops of Docatone V under the language and in nostrils, and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, since in the moment to be born even they were presenting something of pink or purple color in ink pads and nose - mouth (if they were white or yellow it would mean that already they were dead), but it was useless.
An hour later, we administer to the mother an injection of oxitocina (0,8 ml) subcutaneous route to stimulate the last contractions, to assure us that more puppies were not staying for being born and to propitiate the expulsion of fluids and placental remains and the regression of the uterus.

We elaborate an INDIVIDUAL CARD of every puppy to take control of weight and other information.
20 days after the childbirth we detect a mastitis in 2 ª breast of the left chain. We treat with Clavaseptin (amoxicilina) 1 injection a day for 2 days and then 2 comp/12 hours for 5 days. The same day we begin the weaning. We cover the affected breast allowing to the puppies that they should suck of others. We extract the milk of the affected breast of manual form to prevent it being from re-loaded. On the 25th the milk already is normal.
We suspect that the mastitis might exist from before the childbirth for the premature descent of the milk: slight inflammation on having felt it, diarrheas of the puppies, inconvenience of the mother to remaining in the nest for possible pain in the breasts.
Ten days later, the puppies already are totally weaned.
